DESCRIPTION:
France, "Mystery" clock, the movement contained within the black marble base below, and with statue mounted to a central pivoting base, the pendulum suspended from the female's arm, and swinging without apparent impulse, c1880
CONDITION:
the front bottom molding has an old crack near right corner; other minor edge abrasions. Ormolu feet are intact, one loose. The figure of Diana has been repainted; could be better. The glass center pendulum is a reproduction. Incised gilt dial is fine, and with original gilt spade hands. Movement recently serviced and seems to run and strike OK. Movement with the mark of Guilmet (Breveté - GLT - SGDG), and the number 271.
